Do you have impaired vision, cataracts or glaucoma?  Do you suffer from "dry eye"?  Do you get “sticky eyelids” in the am and/or “cloudy eyes” in the pm?  If so, maybe this pearl can help brighten your future.

The 2nd part of this 6-part healthier living series deals with healthy sight.  Throughout this series, the only thing that matters is what works for you.  If you try something that works for you, great, but if it doesn’t, get what you can out of it and move on.

Statistics:

Eye Problems: A survey commissioned by the American Academy of Ophthalmology found that 64% of Americans (211 million) have experienced some type of vision or eye problem.

Cataracts: According to the National Eye Institute (NEI), an estimated 24.4 million Americans age 40 or older have cataracts with over 90% of people over 65 developing them.

Glaucoma: Approximately 4.22 million adults in the U.S. have glaucoma. The prevalence is 6.66 million for adults 40 and older and varies significantly by race with 8.2 million black adults as compared to 3.7 million white adults.

Dry eye: It is estimated that between 16.7 million and 50.2 million people are affected by dry eye, but as many as 150 million could be experiencing dry eye symptoms.

“The Eyes are the Window to the Soul”:

This is a common saying, but if true, murky vision would make your soul darker—which is absurd; so forget it.  Most people with vision problems (near-sighted, far-sighted, cataracts, glaucoma, dry eye,  etc.) think that all that they need to do is frequent their ophthalmologist, optometrist or optician to augment the focus of their window to make it clearer—not totally true, there are things that you can do yourself to improve your vision.

But first some DEFINITIONS:

Near-sighted people can see things near, but things afar are out of focus.

Far-sighted people can see things afar, but near things are out of focus.

Sticky am eyelids are when your eyelids stick together upon arising.

Cloudy pm eyes are when your eyes are covered with muck.

Dry eyes are when your eyes are not getting enough moisture and painfully dry up.

Cataracts are the opacity of the lens or capsule of the eye, causing impairment of vision or blindness as we age.

Glaucoma is any one of a group of eye diseases characterized by abnormally high intraocular fluid pressure, damaged optic disk, hardening of the eyeball and partial to complete loss of vision.

Eye Exercises strengthen and balance the eye muscles that are best done wearing Bio-Magnetic Glasses.

Bio-Magnetic Glasses are round magnets that are attached to your eyeglass frame, which draws nutrients to the eyes to make them healthier and either avoid or lessen some eye diseases—they actually make a difference.

Simple Eye Solutions:

If near-sighted, obtain eyeglasses to better see at a distance.  This statement may seem absurd, but unnoticeable near-sightedness creeps up on you over the years and limits your vision.

If far-sighted, obtain eyeglasses to better see close things.  This statement may also seem absurd, but far-sightedness may cover the need to get reading glasses as you read things closer and closer to your face.

Sticky am eyelids can be dealt with by using eye drops when awakening until the sticky eyes are no more.

Cloudy pm eyes can be dealt with by washing your eyes with clean water when they feel murky.

More Complicated Eye Solutions:

Cataracts are the opacity of the lens or capsule of the eye, causing impairment of vision or blindness.  As we age the lens naturally becomes more opaque making things darker and we may not even notice it.  Having the lens replaced makes everythoing much brighter, but may have side effects.  If you are near-sighted and get simple hard lenses you will probably need to wear reading glasses unless the new lenses are reshaped using laser therapy.

Glaucoma is any one of a group of eye diseases characterized by abnormally high intraocular fluid pressure, damaged optic disk, hardening of the eyeball and partial to complete loss of vision.  While working with my ophthalmologist on my dry eye problem he detected the start of glaucoma in 2008.  I have done a decade of research using Bio-Magnetic Therapy—the use of magnets to heal all parts of the body—and was intrigued as to whether it would help with my glaucoma.  I created bio-magnetic glasses and spent a week wearing my Bio-Magnetic Glasses while doing the usual 8-point eye exercises.  I then went back to my ophthalmologist and ho could not find a trace of glaucoma and it hasn't reoccurred to date.  Bio-Magnetic Glasses are 2" round neodymium magnets attached to an eyeglass frame that is used to draws negative ions to the eyes to heal them—they actually do make a difference—see the attachment for how you can make your own Bio-Magnetic Glasses, along with a chart for doing eye exercises.

Even though I have had cateract surgery in both eyes and I no longer have glaucoma, I still use my Bio-Magnetic glasses once a month when my vision seems a little cloudy; it really clears things up.

Dry eyes, creep up on you like nearsightedness and may not be noticeable until they become painful and need your attention.  In 2007 had a bad case of dehydration and dry eye because I did not drink enough daily fluids.  When I descended in an airplane the change in pressure caused excruciating eye pain (like I was being stabbed in the eyes with an ice pick).  So I went to an ophthalmologist who diagnosed my dry eye and prescribed watery eye drops 6-8 times a day—there were little positive results after three months.  I then switched to gel-drops and after six months the dry eye was gone and never came back—I now take gel-drops before retiring, even though I may not need to.

I hope that this "Seeing the Light" pearl is of help to you to improve or maintain better eyesight.  The next pearl in this series deals with nutrition: "Eating to Live instead of living to eat".
